It’s Cold Outside…Warm Up In An Infrared Sauna

When the temperature plummets outdoors most of us want to be in hibernation mode! Relaxing indoors by a fire with a nice cup of tea and a book is a lovely treat BUT don’t spend all your downtime seated. We need to keep moving even during the coldest days – so – have a brisk walk, head to your local gym for a sweat session OR add infrared sauna treatments to your schedule. Did you know we have an infrared sauna right here at Clear Medicine? Book an appointment today and get your sweat on!

If you are also one of those partaking in “Dry January” or participating in a New Year Detox or Cleanse then infrared sauna treatments are perfect. Sweating will help you feel even better.

Why infrared sauna compared to regular saunas?

Infrared radiation heats the skin directly in a way which is similar to heat from the sun without warming the air. The radiant heat is safe, health promoting and penetrates more than 1.5 inches into the body. Traditional saunas work by heating the air around you. An infrared sauna uses infrared lamps (that use electromagnetic radiation) to warm your body directly. The infrared  panels are used instead of conventional heat to easily penetrate human tissue, heating up your body before heating up the air

80 % of the heat goes directly to your body instead of the air – so you will sweat a lot but might not feel as hot as in a traditional sauna.

Because the skin is the largest organ in the body, regularly sweating in an infrared sauna can help decrease the toxic load and contribute to better health and vitality. A growing body of evidence suggests that bio-accumulated toxic load in the human body is responsible for fatigue, disease and weight gain. Saunas have also been used successfully to detoxify the body, but research shows that saunas using infrared light instead of convection heat have the best prognosis. In a study performed by Seattle-based neurologist Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt, he found that the sweat of people using a conventional sauna was 95-97% water while the sweat of those using an infrared thermal system was 80-85% water, the non-water portion consisting of toxins including heavy metals.

Infrared saunas are an advantage for individuals that want to benefit from a sweat session but can’t exercise or are injured. We always want to promote an active lifestyle but for some this is difficult and an infrared sauna session every few days or once a week can benefit those that are unable to hit the gym!

Benefits of Infrared Sauna treatments:

There is a wide body of both scientific and anecdotal evidence regarding the effectiveness of sauna heat therapy to support health benefits including:
